The Mitchell Swaback Athletic Center
New sports complex at Harvest Bible Chapel Elgin Facility:
Sports was always a large part of Mitch’s life. He played on the church’s basketball, softball, and soccer teams.
Pastor James MacDonald recently shared how Mitch suggested every Sunday in the church’s friendship register, that the church should start a basketball league. Mitch continued sharing his thoughts for six months. His influence and persistence played a large part in starting the Harvest Sports ministry. A fellow teammate on Mitch’s basketball team suggested that the new 26,000 square foot athletic center be named after Mitch. The foundation could not have thought of a better way to remember him.
Construction on the new athletic center will start in the spring of 2005. This facility will serve thousands of individuals each year and will continue to impact and change lives.
The Mitchell Swaback Foundation has committed to partner with Harvest and finance the entire interior of the athletic center. Interior finishes will include: wood floors, acoustical walls and ceilings, score boards, locker-room facilites, basketball, volleyball, and various other sports equipment.
