2nd Annual Golf Outing
2nd Annual Golf Outing

2nd Annual MSF Golf Outing/Auction was a SUCCESS!

100 degree temperatures and 80% humidity dampened the shirts, but not the spirits of this years Mitchell Swaback Foundation golf outing participants. 126 golfers challenged the beautiful Rolling Green Country Club's course on July 17th. Not only did more men come out and join us for golf this year, we saw four ladies challenge the course as well. Congratulations to Pat Reynolds, one of the four, for out driving the men and winning longest drive on hole #6.

The second annual event included over 200 individuals for our silent and live auctions as well as dinner and program.  This year's program included a video of a team of 12 individuals who traveled to Peru to help build a children's day care center. In addition to the daycare center MSF is building six new homes to house 60 children along with house parents. Mitch had visited and served at the same orphanage a few years ago. But we're still not finished! There is a lot more work and funding needed to make sure orphans in Peru have a safe and secure place to call home. 100% of this year's funds raised will go directly to fund MSF projects. This year we surpassed last year's numbers in total funds raised, reaching $60,000 from our live and silent auctions.

Pastor James MacDonald from Harvest Bible Chapel closed the evening with a challenge to all. The Mitchell Swaback Foundation is about reaching out to people and touching their hearts. Mitch is the inspiration and the catalyst for all of us to continue on sharing our wealth, time, and hearts for the Kingdom of Christ.

Plan today to join us next summer for this great event!

A special Thank You to all of you who joined us and helped make this year's event a huge success!

Jeremy Camp Live in Concert
Jeremy Camp Live in Concert

A sold-out crowd of 2300 individuals filled Harvest Bible Chapel in Rolling Meadows, Illinois on June 23rd for the first sponsored MSF concert featuring Steve Wiggins and Big Tent Revival and nationally acclaimed recording artist Jeremy Camp. MSF couldnít be more proud of the successful night we shared with so many of you. It took well over a 100 volunteers to host this concert that raised over $65,000 to help fund the Mitchell Swaback Athletic Center in Elgin, Illinois.

Pastor James MacDonald of Harvest Bible Chapel opened the concert with Mitch's journal in hand explaining to the crowd the reason why we were there that evening and a short video shared a glimpse into Mitchís life. The MSF video also shared with the audience the mission of this foundation and challenged them to not sit back but to get involved! Jeremyís heart for the Lord and this outreach came through clearly as he shared how humbled he was by Mitchís life and the vision of MSF.

Steve reunited with his former band to open the evening and Jeremy followed captivating the audience with his story and enthusiasm. Jeremy Camp and his band not only performed an energy-filled show, but challenged all of those who didnít know Jesus Christ to reach out for Him.

MSF would like to thank Steve Wiggins, Big Tent Revival, Jeremy Camp, Harvest Bible Chapel and all the volunteers for all they did to accomplish a night that we will be sure to repeat!

Staci Hoover - Half Ironman Competition
Staci Hoover - Half Ironman Competition

Staci Hoover Conquers Half Ironman Triathlon

Six months of training came to a victorious end as Staci Hoover completed the Half Ironman Triathlon May 21st, 2006 in Orlando Florida. Staci's journey to the finish has been a grueling personal test of integrity and fortitude.  Early in her training Staci decided to partner with the Foundation on behalf of her cousin Mitch.  She challenged family, friends, and partners of the foundation to pledge an amount for each mile she completed.  Staci represented herself, and her cousin with the heart of a champion.

The 70.3 mile competition began at 6:30 a.m. with a 1.2 mile swim. Staci finished the swim six minutes ahead of her personal best.  She proceeded to the 56 mile bike ride again finishing with a personal best time.  The third leg of the triathlon is a 13.1 mile run.  The Florida temperature rose to 94 degrees with plenty of Florida humidity.  Staci completed the entire event in just over 6 ½ hours.  A testament to her training, commitment, and heart.

Bob and Gaye Swaback, founders of the Mitchell Swaback Foundation were on hand to witness Staci compete.  Bob commented, "I witnessed over two thousand athletes compete in one of the most grueling races I have ever seen.  I have earned a new respect this sport."

Staci accomplished something most people would never even consider trying.  She triumphed over pain and fatigue to reach a determined goal.  She is an inspiration to her family, the memory of Mitch, and to all involved with the Mitchell Swaback Foundation.

Staci's friends pledged $117.56 per mile.  Her finish raised a total of $8,264.46.  The Mitchell Swaback Foundation is humbled and grateful to Staci for her dedication, her perseverance, and her compassion, and we are all pretty proud of her too.  Thanks Staci.
